Letter to my Daughter -- 1989

Dear Gloopy,

I'm a therapist. I'm an inventor. I'm a writer. I'm a craftsman. I'm a husband. I'm a cook. I'm a golfer. I'm an asshole. But there is nothing I pride myself more on than being a primary papa. I lose myself in raising you. It's a comfortable disorientation. You motivate me. You push me to my limits. I enjoy that.

I have learned more about myself through parenting than any of my other experiences, including numerous experiments with mind-altering drugs back in the day. For that, I thank you. You are a first-class trip, Gloopy, and I love you. Even more significant and incredible, I am beginning to love myself.

Daddy and don't forget it.
